Declan Mooney
Hi folks. I’m described by some as a Creative Cartesian – systematic in terms of “map it, measure it and manage it” and then creative in terms of constantly seeking out new ways of doing things and uncovering potential. I’m a firm believer in “doing business through people” and love helping clients to become great managers: helping them to get ordinary people to do extraordinary things.
My role in the organization is to keep an eye on the numbers, legal matters and commercial aspects. It’s also the side I most help with in Partner Development, and I support the strategic planning, financing and legal interventions with Practitioner Partners. Industry benchmarks and financial ratios are fun for me and I love unlocking the opportunities in a set of accounts and enabling business to grow. Most accountants look backwards while I prefer to create the future.
I’m a classically trained International Marketer and started my career in Strategic Marketing Consultancy. This then led to a period in Aquaculture Engineering, where I gained extensive experience in Patents, Licensing and Joint-Ventures. Later, I moved into the Food and Biotechnology industries and my last employed position was with an Australian plc where I built their European position from virtually zero to 2,000 employees in 14 operations through Europe, Middle East and Africa. This experience, mergers and acquisitions and post-acquisition change management, gave me the passion to start again in consultancy with my partner … … and so began Conexus International.
I’ve done business in 43 countries so far and I’m as happy in a suit in The City or in a pair of wellingtons while walking through a food processing plant or a fish-farm.
